DK-VAND is a Danish certification standard ensuring that products used in connection with drinking water – all the way from the well to the consumer – leave no harmful substances, smells, or flavours in the drinking water, safeguarding the high quality of Danish drinking water.
The certification was launched in 2014 by The Danish Plastics Federation, The Danish Technological Institute, DANVA (The Danish Water Sector), and The Association of Waterworks in Denmark. Our associate partners DHI and DANCERT are in charge of toxicology and certifications, respectively.
The DK-VAND steering committee consists of producer representatives, utility representatives and utility organisations plus technical and scientific experts. The steering committee meets twice a year to set the direction for DK-VAND.
Daily management is handled by an executive group representing the members of the steering committee. The chairman of the steering committee also acts as the chairman of the DK-VAND certification.
The work we do at DK-VAND follows our mission statement and has been specified into four main areas:
We will develop the scheme to embrace all water-related products, and develop new skills and knowledge through projects and research.
We will execute the management of the certification scheme so that it rests in itself
We will disseminate the DK-VAND scheme into a larger geographical area
We will challenge decision makers in Denmark and Europe
DK-VAND works to make the certification scheme more visible within the water sector and to label more products with the DK-VAND label, making it easier for utility companies, producers, and suppliers to the water sector to do the right thing.
